Hot Check Program

The Hot Check Program is a combined effort of both the Wharton County Justice of the Peace Precinct #2 and the Wharton County Constable’s Office Precinct #2. Both Judge Cynthia Kubicek and Constable John A. Szymanski have identified a growing problem within Precinct #2 and have addressed it head on. Issuance of Bad Checks or “Hot Checks” are the passing of worthless checks to business owners in exchange for goods and services. Many people that write “Hot Checks” make them good as soon as being notified, but some people never even make an attempt to make the check good even after numerous attempts by the businesses. This is where the Justice of the Peace and the Constable’s Office come into play. We designed 8 ½ X 11” signs and 6” X 8” signs, free of charge to the businesses as a deterrent to individuals that are costing businesses thousands of dollars. These signs simply tell the consumers that if they pass worthless check and do not make them good, the businesses will prosecute. Judge Kubicek has taken a firm stance and will issue warrants for the arrest of these individuals and the Constable’s Office will diligently attempt to execute warrants on these individuals through various ways. If you have any questions, comments or need additional information, or need signs, please feel free to contact Judge Kubicek or Constable Szymanski at their offices which are located at the Wharton County Precinct #2
Annex in East Bernard.
