       Wharton County Precinct #2 Annex

Justice of the Peace and Constable's Office
Wharton County Precinct #2 Annex - Justic of the Peace and Constable's Office
On behalf of myself and the dedicated deputies of the Wharton County Constable’s Office Precinct #2, we welcome you to our home on the Internet. It is a great honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Precinct #2 since 1992. I look forward to continually working closely with the public and civic organizations, business groups, schools, youth groups and other law enforcement agencies to combat crime, identify the needs of the community and ensure the safety of all citizens.

The Constable’s Office is and has always been committed to enforcing the law with integrity, fairness and courtesy, and I personally pledge to you that we will continue to treat all citizens with impartiality and respect.

This office has expanded into the largest Constable’s Office in Wharton County, which currently has seven commissioned peace officers and one part-time civilian employee working for the citizens of Precinct #2. In 2002, Wharton County Commissioner’s Court reassigned the Environmental Enforcement for Wharton County under my office. The full-time non-paid deputies normally volunteer over 100 hours per month of patrol, traffic enforcement, responding to 911 calls, providing backup assistance to other agencies, and that is among just some of their duties as they work in Precinct #2. During the course of their work these deputies have made numerous drug related arrests, taken drunk drivers off of the roads and in 2003 deputies seized over $46,000 in currency in one instance and seized a vehicle in a drug related arrest.

In addition to patrol, my office has an excellent working relationship with the Justice of the Peace Office, which is essential due to our constant interaction. In 2003, the Justice of the Peace Precinct #2 Office brought in over $550,000 in revenue and heard over 5000 criminal and civil cases. This is important because the Constable’s Office must work together with the Justice of the Peace in serving the subpoenas, civil process, warrants, providing courtroom security, and selecting juries for justice court trials.

I, like all my deputies are committed to serving the citizens of Precinct #2 and look forward to continuing this working relationship. As your Constable, I would like to solicit your comments about the agency and your suggestions for ways we can better serve you. I hope you enjoy your visit and find the information useful, and we look forward to your return.
